The Hilltop Village of Gordes

Spectacular is how you would describe the hilltop village of Gordes. It spills down the hillside in terraces from a Renaissance chateau built in the 16th century on the site of a 12th century fortress. The narrow, medieval cobble stone lanes were fun to explore and had amazing views.

 

 

 

Tuesday is market day in Gordes. We have found that each villages market is a little different from the last. We saw different goods for sale at this market such as fresh lavender items, colorful pottery, jams and herb-infused sea salts, to name a few.
